Abstract Economic exclusion is a multidimensional concept that has particular relevance in the context of ageing populations and globalised economies. Sustaining adequate incomes old age protecting older citizens from poverty are major challenges for governments policy makers they have been amplified face economic consequences COVID-19 pandemic. Over past few decades most countries made adjustments to their pension systems other welfare related policies concern citizens, these reforms already had will continue differential impact on exclusion. For some, extending working life pushing back legal retirement can be safeguard against inadequate age, while others who excluded labour market, or low paid jobs, remains reality. The market implications pandemic likely exacerbate this risk those whose situation was fragile before crisis.
